The 15th International Hair Styling, Perfume, Cosmetics, Aesthetics and Beauty Fair ended with great success.

Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires 2008 received more than 42,000 visitors, many of them from abroad, lured by the wide range of product and service offerings, as well as by training activities.


These were three intense days of fruitful work: beauty, cosmetic, aesthetic and hair-styling companies displayed their latest offerings for trade professionals.

Visitors were quite satisfied and said that their expectations regarding the fair were exceeded. 42,315 visitors in all came to the exhibition. Many of them came from abroad: Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela, among a number.

An aspect highly valued by visitors was the fair layout arranged by product group. The 5 sectors part of the exhibition were: cosmetics, aesthetics, wellness & spa, hair-styling and sales. An itinerary was put together through these sectors that was a great help for the visitors. 

An interesting highlight was that most companies set up some activity at their booths: raffles, product demos, specialists teaching new techniques, hair-stylists doing hair-cuts live and make-up artists showing their creations with models.

Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires 2008 had two major areas, where companies made different types of presentations and held a range of events. On the one hand: Salón Buenos Aires, a space with a long runway where many shows were held. Major events were the show by make-up artist Juan Pont Ledesma, the wedding-dress show by the traditional company Matices and the presentation of new trends in hair color and cuts created by Mahogany International Academy from London, in the hands of the company Alfaparf Milano, hosted by model Soledad Solaro. On the other hand, Teatro Abierto was held, a major stage where different specialists showed their art live with hair-cuts, styling, treatments, etc.

Some companies used the context of the exhibition to hold the final rounds of a few contests for professionals from this sector. One of them was the Final Round of the 5th AVON Make-up Contest for make-up artists. There were three winners for the three categories: Day Make-up: Betina Bertonasco, Night Make-up: Barbara Tabonsnaskay, Fantasy Make-up: Viviana Kobilkevich. Each of them was awarded a US$1,000 cash prize.

The 2nd Argentinean Sculpted-Nail Contest was also held there. Two categories competed: “Acrylic Sculpted Nails” and “Fantasy Sculpted Nails”. The winners were Natalia Alarcón and María Del Rosario Burgadt, respectively.

Finally, the Argentinean Federation of Hair-Stylists and Related Professions (FAPYA) held the 48th National Women Hair-Styling and Color Contest and the 3rd National Men Hair-Styling and Color Contest. The national champions for the year were elected for both categories. Also, the election of Miss FAPYA 2008 was held at the exhibition.

Training is always a highlight at the fair. That is why this edition hosted the 3rd International Scientific Applied-Aesthetics Congress and the Dermatocosmetics Day, where both local and foreign speakers showed new techniques in cosmetology. The president of the Congress, Dr. Miguel Fridmanis reflected about the meaning of training: "Tomorrow making sense and being secured depends on every one of us, on prestige and history, supported by a permanent knowledge update". The prestigious professionals who lectured included Dr. Máximo Ravenna, a reputed specialist in obesity and nutrition therapies, who talked about “The Measure that Makes you Slim”. Another personality of the Congress was Prof. Dr. Carlos Juri, who spoke about “Updates in Cosmetic Surgery”, thus sharing his wide experience in this area.

One of the most distinguished conferences at Beauty Space was given by Mr. Ole Henriksen, from Denmark. For three decades now, the owner of spa Ole Henriksen Face/Body, from Hollywood, has been in charge of the beauty care of world show stars such as Madonna, Naomi Campbell, Renee Zellweger, Ralph Fiennes, Charlize Theron and Kylie Minogue, among a number. At his conference he said that “Your client needs to feel the center of the focus; we see many Hollywood stars, but take care of all our clients, without exception, as show stars”. Not a friend of surgical procedures, Ole advised to take care of the skin since you are sixteen, apart from good food, healthy life, little alcohol and as little stress as possible. “Your face and body are not disconnected; if you take care of your body, it will reflect on your face”, he held. 

A good business level was attained at the 3rd International Round of Cosmetics Buyers, held in parallel and organized by Fundación Export.Ar, together with Indexport Messe Frankfurt. More than 30 local companies gathered with organizations from Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Paraguay, closing good business transactions for the organizations part of the round. 

The fair enlisted 156 exhibitors from different areas, on a 20,000 sq mt surface area. Staff from these companies shared their opinions about the exhibition:

At the end of the fair in the air there was a feeling of expectation to start working for the next exhibition. The 16th Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires will be held on September 12 – 14, 2009, at La Rural Trade Center.
